I’m getting married June 13, 2009 in Oneida, NY.  You can take a look at our wedding website, if you’d like.  The wedding is 10 months away and we already have the church, reception site, DJ, and photographer booked.  We even have a string quartet lined up.  Sarah, my fiancee, has had a fantastic time going over budget on every bit of it.

Let me preface this with a couple statements:  I really have no political affiliation.  I kinda like McCain.  I like Obama.  Problem with these two fellas is that their slogans tear at my grammatical soul. 

“Country First: Reform, Prosperity, Peace.”  John… you had 71 years to figure out the proper use of a colon.  You, at the very least, need an independent clause before the colon. 

Prepositions don’t go at the end! Now if his slogan was “Change in which we can believe.”  I believe that I would vote for him today.

My sister was back in the States this summer (she lives in London).  While she was home, she showed me these kick arse Cadbury Creme Egg commercials.  They are hilarious and a little disturbing at the same time. I hope you enjoy.

I didn’t get to blog as much as I would have liked this summer.  I took three courses and worked full time at the State Library.  Weird thing is… I have no money saved up.  How do you work 40 hours a week and not have any money?  Must be that crack addiction… or maybe shirt.woot! 

Work has been good.  Sadly, working at Library Development, you deal with alot of libraries that aren’t on top of their game.  You get to see the dark shady underbelly of the library world.  The job definitely is a crash course on how to not fill out paperwork and where not to get a job after school. 

My fiancee (did I ever tell you I’m engaged?) got a job way up in Glens Falls, NY as a meteorologist.  It is her first “real” weather job, so she’s excited/nervous/freaking out.  She started a couple weeks ago and (other than the commute) she seems to be doing well.  So now we are in the process of looking for a place to live up there.  We went up a few weeks ago and It’s a nice place (great library!).  Much better feel to the place than dirty old scary Schenectady (although I will miss Villa Italia and Ferrari’s).

So my summer flew.  I blinked and I missed it.  But, the one good thing about summer coming to an end is… football!  BTW, my buddies and I are going to see Bills/Seahawks, in Buffalo, on opening day (Sept. 7).  I’ve been a die-hard Seahawks fan since the days of Cortez Kennedy (he retired in 2000… I’m only 23.. give me a break).  This will be the first time I’ve seen the team in person.  It will also be the first time I’ve been to a Bills game without 10 layers, so I’m excited.

The New York Statewide Outreach Meeting… a meeting of New York’s Outreach Coordinators, takes place today and tomorrow in Albany, NY.  I attended the meeting this afternoon and will be there tomorrow as well. 

The meeting today was a lot of fun.  I met some great/highly motivated librarians who are actually participating in outreach activities.  I rarely get to hear stories working at the State Library.  We deal with statistics and quantitative results… it’s nice to hear qualitative stories. 

They had a great presenter named Scott Jarzombek from the Albany Public Library.  His presentation was on urban fiction and why librarians should start focusing on subcultures/countercultures.  He was funny, and his mother would be proud of him.
